We all need a little break from life every now and again. In our humble opinion, there’s no better place to escape the real world than South Carolina’s scenic Hilton Head Island. A tranquil and picturesque coastal island, Hilton Head is the perfect place to kick your feet up and relax for a few days.

Mountain Peak Espresso Martini on Hilton Head

You’re not officially in vacation mode until you have a drink in hand! Here at Hilton Head Distillery, we craft rum and vodka in small batches, and we want YOU to taste the fruits of our labor! Our fun and family-friendly tasting room is the perfect place to escape the rain (or sun) for a bit without having to leave the vacation experience behind. Kids can play games and drink a mocktail while the adults sip on the good stuff and learn a little bit about distilling spirits.

Explore the Barrier Islands

The Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway is rich with natural treasures and exotic wildlife. Take a few hours to explore all that the barrier islands have to offer!

Start at home base, with Hilton Head’s bountiful bike trails. These trails will take you all over the island and are a great way to explore the forested parts of Hilton Head that you can’t access by car.

Next, take a trip to Pinckney Island – a wildlife refuge located just over the main bridge. The Ibis Pond is walking distance from the parking lot, and there’s a good chance you’ll spot an alligator or three!

Finally, if you have enough time during your stay, take the ferry over to Daufuskie Island. Rent a golf cart for the day and explore the quaint shops, galleries, and cafes. Daufuskie is rich with history and quirky spots that you can’t find anywhere else.

Get on the Water

When you’re on a tropical island, it’s almost mandatory that you get out on the water! Whether you explore on paddle board, jet ski, or boat tour, you won’t regret carving out some time for saltwater therapy. We recommend stopping by one of Outside Hilton Head’s locations – they’re a great one-stop-shop for rentals. From catamarans to kayaks to private fishing charters, Outside has it all. Make sure you bring a camera (preferably one that is water-resistant or water-proof) for great nature pics and, if you time it right, the perfect sunset shot!
